Beyond Neuronal Man. Interdisciplinary Research on the Social Uses of Neuroscience in France

Résumé

The study of the social uses of neuroscience in France is part of a larger story, the history of the relations between neuroscience and sociology, which began forty years ago. I shall outline the main steps of this history, until the late 2000’s. Then I shall go back to the study of the social uses of neuroscience, by presenting a project that we have been conducting at the Maison des Sciences de de l’Homme Paris Nord since 2010. I shall try to suggest that this kind of study could be an essential part of future interdisciplinary collaborations.
