The Center for Research in Economics and Statistics (CREST - UMR 9194) is a French scientific research institution specializing in quantitative methods applied to the social sciences.
CREST is an interdisciplinary joint research unit composed of researchers and faculty members from CNRS, GENES, the Department of Economics at École Polytechnique, and the Department of Economic and Social Sciences at Télécom Paris. Its activities are physically located in the ENSAE Paris building on the Palaiseau campus of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and on the Ker-Lann campus of ENSAI Rennes.
CREST's shared culture is characterized by a strong commitment to quantitative methods, mathematical modeling, and the interaction between models and empirical data to analyze economic and social issues. The laboratory's main research areas are economics, finance and insurance, statistics, actuarial science, and sociology.
