Résumé

Magnetoplasmonics leverages the enhancement of the electromagnetic field, caused by the excitation of plasmons at an interface or by localised plasmons in a nano-object, in order to increase the magneto-optical response of a material. This fosters the growth and design of novel hybrid nanomaterials, combining plasmonic and magnetic properties. In this context, this work aims at the growth and the study of the properties of Au-SrTiO3 and Au-Co0.8Ni0.2-SrTiO3 vertically aligned nanocomposite (VANs) thin films. The samples were grown by sequential pulsed laser deposition leveraging phase separation. The morphology of the VANs and the structure of the thin films were studied by a combination of electron microscopy and spectromicroscopy, and synchrotron x-ray diffraction, validating the possibility to fabricate hybrid nanowires made of two parts, Au and Co0.8Ni0.2, and embedded in SrTiO3. Magnetic measurements displayed a large axial strain in Co0.8Ni0.2, causing an enhancement of the uniaxial magnetic anisotropy through magneto-elastic coupling. The excitation of localised plasmons was demonstrated in Au-SrTiO3 thin films by optical measurements. Finally, photo-induced magnetisation dynamics were measured in hybrid Au-Co0.8Ni0.2-SrTiO3 thin films, using a pump-probe time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect set-up. This thesis work is a preliminary report of ultrafast magnetisation dynamics in hybrid nanocomposites, and paves the way for future studies of photo-induced magnetic phenomena in these systems.
