Conjunctions
Résumé
In this chapter, I describe the renewal of coordinating and subordinating conjunctions from Latin to Modern Romance, a phenomenon which has attracted a good deal of attention, and for a long time. I focus on the importance of diversification, and specifically on the phenomena which have pushed it further (e.g. language contact, borrowing and local innovations) or prevented it (relatinization, parallel innovations, internal borrowing within the language family).
