Les préparations culinaires chez les Peuls du Diamaré (Cameroun) : Approche étymologique

Abstract

Milk forms the base of the traditional diet of the Fulani people. One would thus expect to find it dominant for the Fulani group of Diamare (Cameroon) for whom herding remains an important activity. However, examination of the lexicon of the Fulani language of this region reveals numerous unexpected names of dishes and ingredients. In fact, the Diamare Fulani during their long migration have learned to feed differently. Etymological study reveals, in many cases, in which region they acquired new dietary habits.
