Intermittency of passive scalars in delta-correlated flow: Introduction to recent work
Résumé
Recent work on intermittency for a passive scalar advected by a Gaussian white-in-time velocity field with a power-law energy spectrum has led for the first time to a systematic understanding of how intermittency can come about and to testable predictions for anomalous exponents. Some of the key ideas of such work are here presented in a way which does not require any previous knowledge of field-theoretic methods.
