Reconfigurable Filtering Differential Low Noise Amplifier Using MEMS Tunable Inductor

This paper deals with the study of a filtering low noise amplifier. The device is composed of a differential amplifier, a differential and tunable bandpass filter including a variable inductor (MEMS) developed by CEA-LETI. The LC tank losses are cancelled thanks to a Q-enhancement circuit. The active part is realized thanks to NXP Qubic4X BiCMOS SiGeC 0.25 um technology. The gain of the circuit can be tuned between 13 and 20 dB. The central frequency is tunable between 0.94 and 1.77 GHz. The Noise Figure (NF) is lower than 2.7 dB. The input compression point (IP1dB in band) is reached for an input power of -10 dBm to -20 dBm depending on the tuned frequency and Q-enhancement. The average consumption is 55 mW.
