Résumé

Fiber lasers have demonstrated very good capabilities for emission of diffraction-limited beams at kilowatt power-levels, but technological limitations rapidly occur when extreme effective area is expected for pulsed regimes. Furthermore, compactness, reliability and flexibility for easy beam generation and delivery, which were typical properties of fiber lasers, rapidly vanish with the achievement of a new generation of LMA active fibers. In this talk, we will suggest some alternate technologies and fiber designs which can overcome some of the above mentioned drawbacks.
