Résumé

Semiconductor lasers subject to optoelectronic (OE) feedback have been the focus of research for the last decades, but have recently attracted attention as a possible source of microwave generation when operated in limit-cycle (i.e., periodic) regime. Due to the importance of these systems for a number of emerging applications, understanding their fundamental aspects remains a challenge. In this work, we explore experimentally and theoretically the dynamics of a DFB quantum well laser subject to OE feedback with an emphasis on the impact of high-pass electronic filtering on the complex emerging bifurcations, which is of interest for microwave photonics applications of these devices. The laser is characterized with high damping of side modes in the absence of OE feedback. The feedback loop includes an optical path with a polarizer and a rotating waveplate to control the feedback rate.
