New insights into Mesolithic technology: the Krzyż Wielkopolski 7 (Poland) antler industry
Résumé
The recent excavation of Krzyż Wielkopolski (Poland) yielded several worked pieces of red deer antlers dated to the Boreal chronozone. The known manufacturing techniques have been used for taking off tine antlers and shaping hammer-axdzes of that time-period. However the way some of these techniques have been applied shows that discret caracters can be emphasized from that material. These gives us the opportunity to question the notion of "style" for Mesolithic technology.
