Le Laboratoire 3SR est une Unité Mixte de Recherche associant l'Université Grenoble Alpes, le CNRS et l'Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble. Il comporte 120 personnes menant des recherches de pointe en Mécanique des Solides, recherches qui touchent les domaines de l'ingénierie des structures, des ouvrages et des matériaux pour le génie civil, le transport, l'industrie manufacturière ou la santé. Dans tous ces domaines, les recherches s'appuient à la fois sur l'expérimentation et sur la modélisation, aussi bien à l'échelle du matériau qu'à celle de la structure. Les études expérimentales sont conduites pour comprendre, analyser, et nourrir la mise au point de modèles théoriques et numériques en prenant en compte les couplages physico-mécaniques et les analyses multi-échelles.
