Introduction to LOMA (ex-CPMOH)

LOMA parent institutions are the CNRS and the University of Bordeaux.

The research activities of the laboratory aim to explore and characterize the properties of materials, from a fundamental and applied point of view. This activity combines expertise in "Condensed and Soft Matter Physics", "Photonics" and "Material sciences". This vast array places the laboratory at the crossroads between different fields going from physics, chemistry and biology to mathematics, making it a privileged place for developing connections between fundamental research and technology transfer.

MAJOR RESEARCH AXES

CONDENSED MATTER THEORY

  • Statistical physics
  • Electronic transport in emerging materials: carbon nanotubes, graphene, topological insulators, organic heterojunctions
  • Exotic and heavy fermions superconductors
  • Quantum transport and nano-electromechanical systems
  • Superconductor spintronic

SOFT MATTER PHYSICS

  • Soft matter out of equilibrium
  • Nano-, micro, milli- and opto-fluidics
  • Instabilities and low dimensional trubulence
  • Granular flows
  • Biophysics
