Ce que la FNAC a fait du livre. Innovations, controverses et rationalisation dans le commerce culturel français

Résumé

Compared to reading or trajectory of publishing houses, the link between books and consumers is not an issue studied by social science researches. By mobilizing a classical approach to the sociology of consumption, which focuses on stores for the commercial culture that they shape, the objective of this paper is to examine new purchasing terms that FNAC has arranged for the book and their effects on the client and on the industry professionals. Three elements are emphasized: the innovations made by this department store in bookselling to the reader-consumer, the controversies, and the effects induced by rationalization strategies set point for select the offer and supply these outlets.
