Intergenerational language practices in multilingual transnational families (Antioch, Paris, Berlin)
Résumé
This presentation deals with intergenerational language practices within transnational families who live between France, Germany or Turkey, where the oldest members were born. They use Arabic, Turkish, French or German during their conversations.
Drawing on a multisited ethnography with recordings of interviews and intergenerational language practices, the analysis will approach some notions and concepts such as family language policy with transmission, alignment, agency and resistance.
