La gloire impériale des couronnements royaux en Angleterre (XIe-XIIe siècles)

Résumé

How the idea of imperial glory was expressed and performed during the coronation rituals in the 11 th and 12 th Century England? Starting from the idea according to which the imperial mimesis was the main process of legitimation of power in European Latin Kingships of that time, this paper will focus on the role of unction, laudes regiae as well as the display of regalia to perform the imperial glory of the King, and how this idea helps to understand the main transformations of the liturgy of coronations.
