The Fifteenth-Century Alchemical Mass, Its Literary Form, and Reception by Michael Maier
Résumé
Michael Maier was certainly the most effective of propagandists in spreading the fame of Melchior of Sibiu and the alchemical mass attributed to him. Maier's commitment with this alchemical mass was, however, paradoxical. In order to contextualize his reaction to this text, I will first focus on the text itself, then return to Maier and compare his reaction with that of his contemporaries.
